Senior Program Manager
Emergency Management & Military Support
Mr. Wakeman has an extensive and diverse background in emergency management. He has served in senior leadership capacities in both the miulitary and civilian emergency management sectors. He is former Deputy Director, State of Missouri Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Operations Chief before that.
His responsibilities included; the function of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), all communications, the alert system, training and Exercises that supported emergency operations throughout the state. Prior to his employment by SEMA, Mr. Wakeman spent 31 years in the Missouri National Guard following a 3 year period on active duty, serving one tour in Viet Nam. He held positions of increasing responsibility as a staff officer and commander, retiring as a Colonel.
Mr. Wakeman spent his last 19 years in the Missouri Army National Guard as a member of the full time manning force. He achieved the position of the Army Chief of Staff for the Missouri Army National Guard, following a successful tour as the Military Support Officer during the Great Flood of 1993.
Mr. Wakeman also spent eleven years as a traditional National Guardsman; his civilian occupation was as a secondary high school teacher and coach in the Hannibal and Maryville Missouri school districts. He currently resides in Jefferson City, Missouri.
